Carlisle Racecourse has seven races taking place this afternoon, with an exciting afternoon of racing action.
The National Hunt action gets underway at 1.32pm, with the final race of the afternoon at 4.40pm as leading trainers such as Dan Skelton, Lucinda Russell and Venetia Williams will have runners on a busy card.
Following the Dublin Racing Festival this weekend, all eyes have turned to Cheltenham, with the Festival now just over six weeks away.
Yet there is still important business to deal with at Carlisle in the BetRhino Winter Warmer, with the action getting underway with the Novices' Hurdle Championship qualifier. Diamond Dice is the current favourite at 9/4, but Ridin’ Solo (10/3) is well respected having won on debut in October before finishing second on Boxing Day at Sedgefield.
The second race at 2.02pm is another one for novices, with a 2m handicap chase continuing the action. It’s a small field of just five horses, with three names, Doyen Du Bar (7/4), Martador (9/4) and Gardener (9/2) all well thought of for what is expected to be a wide open contest.
We're racing today for the first time in 2024😍! Join us for a @BetRhino Winter Warmer❄️

At 2.32pm, the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle takes place with a large field vying for the win as Lunar Discovery (11/10) is well-tipped following two wins in her past three races.
Another race for mares runs at 3.02pm, with four runners expected to be led by Royale Margaux (6/4), with Bryony Frost in the mix on Game On For Glory (15/8).
Following this at 3:32pm, there is a Skelton favourite (Skycutter, 11/4) in the Handicap Hurdle, as part of the Challenger Two Mile Hurdle Series Qualifier series, with Frost riding Pretending (3/1), who is expected to be the main challenger.
The penultimate race of the afternoon’s action is a 3m½f handicap chase at 4.07pm, with Breeze Of The Wind (11/8) predicted by most tipsters to stay the course and seal victory. Following this, the final race of the afternoon is at 4.40pm, with a National Hunt flat race taking place, with Red Cadillac the favourite at 3/1.
