MAGISTRATES have handed a suspended prison sentence to a man for two offences of stealing alcohol – and also the theft of vitamin pills worth £178.
Daniel McGill, 33, committed the offences on three different days in October last year, the city’s Rickergate court heard.
He took the vitamin pills from a branch of Lloyds Pharmacy on October 11; alcohol worth £101 from Asda on October 27; and two- four-packs of Smirnoff Ice from B&M on the same day.
Magistrates ruled that he must reimburse Lloyds Pharmacy with the £178 cost of the vitamin pills.
They suspended the 58-day jail term they imposed for a year. The defendant, of Dunmail Drive, Carlisle, was represented by defence lawyer Lauren Heasley.
