A TRAIN operator has been criticised for continuing to mispronounce the name of a town in its announcements.
Nothern is continuing to mispronounce 'Aspatria' after re-recording 34 place names in the summer of 2023.
Aspatria, which is one of the stops on the Carlisle to Barrow-in-Furness line, is still being pronounced 'As-spat-ria' as opposed to 'As-spay-tria'.
Northern has said that it is aiming to roll out all of its updates to the announcements by this summer.
After criticism from passengers for the errors the operator had attempted to correct the mispronunciations of place names on many trains across the region, yet it is unclear how many changes have been implemented as of yet.
