PUPILS from Workington Academy have been competing in a eco-challenge to solve environmental problems.
28 students competed in the eco-challenge in order to be crowned Year 8 Workington Academy Innovate champions.
Over the two days, the students worked in teams of four to design and make a product prototype out of recycled materials that could help to solve an environmental problem.
Students then presented their work to judges from their Year Group Team, who then had the difficult decision of selecting the winning team.
Workington Academy said: "Congratulations to all students who took part and worked incredibly hard over the competition days."
The Ocean Officers were the Year 8 champions, and will go forward to the school final in April.
Next half term, 28 more students from Year 7 will take part in their round of the competition.
