DESPITE the temporary closure of the Tullie House Museum for refurbishment, a schedule packed with family activities will still be held at various venues during the February half-term.

The Carlisle museum closed its doors back on Christmas Eve until summer this year, as the venue undergoes a £4.5m makeover.

First, families can celebrate the Lunar New Year on February 10 between 10am-1pm at Carlisle Library with crafts, objects from the museum and other elements marking the Year of the Dragon.

A dose of nature awaits on February 12 between 1-4pm at Watchtree Nature Reserve, with the help of outdoor activities.

The Assembly Room at the Carlisle Tourist Information Centre will be the venue for Victorian Dress up & Crafts on February 14, and Carlisle United Crafts on February 17, both events from 1-4pm.

Enjoy Victorian-themed activities, view objects from the collection and learn more about the Be Just and Fear Not Project, celebrating 120 years of Carlisle United.

Sarah Forster, learning and engagement manager at Tullie, said: "Our regular family events in school holidays are hugely popular and something we know a lot of kids (and parents!) look forward to.

"We’re really pleased to still be able to offer something while the museum is closed for refurbishment and hope to see some familiar faces.

"Thanks go to the wonderful venues that are hosting us."
