NEW data has revealed that it takes an average of 17.96 weeks to sell a property across the CA postcode.
Updated monthly, the latest dataset analysed more than 770 property sales across the region between February 2023 and February 2024.
The statistics track the moment a property is listed on the UK’s leading property portals to the point it’s marked as officially ‘sold’ at the HM Land Registry.
The properties that sold the fastest were in Frizington – 97 days, Maryport – 105 days and Carlisle (CA1) – 106 days.
In the top 10 areas, Property Solvers revealed that homes took 108.90 days (15.56 weeks) to sell on average.
Homes were selling the slowest in Appleby-In-Westmorland – 147 days, Keswick – 140 days and Wigton – 137 days.
In the bottom 10 postcodes, the data showed that properties were taking 124.00 days (17.71 weeks) to sell on average.
“Whilst we’re starting to see some noticeable improvements into 2024, the continued pressures on the mortgage sector and buyers' ability to secure the right kind of finance has resulted in delays with sales completing,” said Ruban Selvanayagam of Property Solvers.
“This means that, combined with the recognised ‘snail pace’ nature of the conveyancing process, it’s likely that these trends are likely to remain for some time.”

House prices increased slightly, by 0.3 per cent, across the Cumberland council area in November, separate figures show.
The average Cumberland house price in November was £170,346, Land Registry figures show – a 0.3 per cent increase on October.
Over the month, the picture was different to that across the North West, where prices decreased 0.9 per cent, and Cumberland was above the 0.8 per cent drop for the UK as a whole.
First-time buyers in Cumberland spent an average of £144,740 on their property – £440 less than a year ago, but £27,080 more than in November 2018.
By comparison, former owner-occupiers paid £195,870 on average in November – 35.3 per cent more than first-time buyers.
