A686 is 'just passable' according to Cumbria Police both ways due to snow from Alston to Melmerby.
Overnight snowfall has left some roads in poor condition and the A66 is currently closed from Brough.
There is also no fuel available at the pumps except for lorries on A74(M) both ways at Gretna Services.
The A69 is open to vehicles.
