YOUNGSTERS at a Carlisle primary school were delighted to find Sir David Attenborough responding to them after penning a letter.
Year one pupils at Kingmoor Nursery and Infant School received a response from the national TV icon after writing to him as part of their history and English work.
The pupils took the chance to send the legendary presenter drawings along with questions touching on his favourite animal, job and the best fossil he has discovered.
In his response, the 97-year-old said: "Dear children of Kingmoor Infant School, thank you for your letter and lovely drawings.
"Here are the answers to your questions.
"I do not have a favourite animal, my favourite country is this one. My favourite job is making programmes about animals and I found my best fossil in Australia.
"Best wishes to you all," he wrote.
In a post on social media, a spokesperson from Kingmoor Nursery and Infant School said: "He wrote back to us! We are so grateful he took the time to reply and answer the children’s questions."
A new series from Sir David Attenborough will be arriving on screens on February 25.
It will launch on Sky Nature and on the streaming platform Now.
