IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at some memories from Nelson Thomlinson School throughout the years.
The Thomlinson Girls School and The Nelson School for Boys were both grammar schools which opened in 1899, and merged in 1953 to form the Nelson Thomlinson Grammar School.
This then merged with Wigton Secondary School in 1969 to form the Nelson Thomlinson Comprehensive School, and now we know it as simply Nelson Thomlinson School.
Former alumni of the school include TV presenter Melvyn Bragg and BBC newsreader Anna Ford.
These memories show everything from sporting memories like football and hockey, to choir practice and carnival queens!
One photo shows the squad from Wigton’s Nelson Thomlinson School that won the Allerdale Schools under-12 six-a-side football competition in 1986 and the Nelson Thomlinson School, Wigton, girls under 16 hockey team who won a county under-16 tournament in 1986.
