Three volunteers from a Cumbrian charity are set to tackle a triathlon later this year to raise vital funds.
On June 16 a team of three volunteers from Maryport Solway Sea Cadets will tackle the Lakesman Triathlon, with the aim of raising £500 through their JustGiving page.
The team were inspired to enter the event, following the lead of their commanding officer, Claire Bostel, who regularly completes entire triathlons herself.
The trio decided to take a more manageable approach, splitting the event into three sections. Hannah Needham will complete the 1.2 mile swim - only 10 months after giving birth to her first child.
George Kendall, previously commanding officer, will tackle the 56-mile cycle road race section, handing the baton on to Janine Lawson who will complete the final leg, in her first race for 11 years.
The triathlon team hope to raise some money to go towards the purchase of high visibility cycling clothing, gloves and protective glasses.
