A secondary school has marked Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day with a variety of batter-based activities.
Brampton's William Howard School preemptively marked the UK tradition, on the final day of term, with a number of activities which included a pancake-flipping race and a Ukranian pancake masterclass.
To begin, the school's sixth-form students took on staff members in the flipping race, with eight head-to-heads taking place in total, with four being won by students and the other four by staff.
Year 13 student Paula Reimartuse ran the fastest time overall of 15.08 seconds, whilst Mrs Mothersdale sprinted down the track and achieved the fastest staff time of 17.59 seconds
They said: "There was some flippin’ good fun during break time on the last day of half term when Sixth Form students challenged staff to a pancake race. Eight hilarious head-to-head races were run
"Well done to all the participants for providing great entertainment.
"The 'gulls certainly enjoyed the leftovers"
In addition to these races, a year 10 class was given a masterclass in making Ukrainian pancakes 'Mlyntsi' and 'Nalysnyky' by learning support assistant Miss Kaminska.
They said: "The Year 10 Food and Nutrition class had a special taste of Ukrainian cooking on Friday when Miss Kaminska showed the students how to make 'Mlyntsi' and 'Nalysnyky' from her native country.
"Nalysnyky are a variation of stuffed mlyntsi. They can be filled with various ingredients and rolled or folded up."
