PLANS have been forward for six yurts on the grounds of Kirklinton Hall, near Carlisle.
The proposals also include an outdoor kitchen compost toilets and shower facilities, adding to the site's eco ambitions.
The location selected for the yurts and other facilities is said to have minimal visual impact on the Grade II listed building, located at the south-western corner of the site.
Originally built for Edmund Appleby in 1661 with stone from nearby Levington Castle, Kirklinton Hall was developed into a significant country house over approximately two centuries.
Since ceasing to be a family residence in the late 1930s, during its history it has been a hotel, nightclub, and casino before falling into disuse.
Previous planning applications to repurpose the hall for other uses haven't materialised.
The application has been put forward to Cumberland Council by Mr and Ms Palmer on February 12.
Supporting statements submitted to Cumberland Council read: "To service the yurts, a new purpose-built building is proposed for the northwest section of the site.
"A single-storey outbuilding is proposed to be removed and the new building located opposite the existing opening in the wall to the garden.
"The building provides welfare facilities for the yurts but would also be incorporated in future uses relating to the use of the main hall and proposals.
"The proposals are to provide a necessary stream of income to enable the continued refurbishment and restoration of the listed building and ensure its long-term preservation."
It also proposes 4 full-time additional employees to be brought on if plans are given the green light.
