THE landlords of a Brampton pub and hotel are celebrating five years since completing its refurbishment.
Ruth and Andrew Seggie took over the Howard Arms Hotel On Tuesday, December 5 2018 before closing the local favourite to complete a number of upgrades.
After these refurbishments were completed the Howards Arms Hotel officially re-opened on Thursday, February 14 2019, and has been attracting local custom ever since.
To celebrate half a decade since the hotel and pub's re-opening, Ruth and Andrew are hosting a party on Saturday, February 17 to thank the community that has supported their stewardship of the Howard Arms.
Ahead of this celebration, Ruth spoke about the challenges the pub has faced since these refurbishments were completed.
She said: "When we look back at when we first got the pub and how much we have learned over the past five years, and how much we have had to change things to go with the flow, and how much we have had to deal with due to Covid and the changing customer expectation and the changes to the price of everything...
"Working through that and making sure we stick to budget and we don't overspend and that the business is still viable. It is a tough climate but we are proud.
"We are just waiting for people to come down and celebrate that we are still here. We have come a long way since we first opened, it's been unbelievable."
Despite reaching this memorable milestone, Ruth was adamant that the Howard Arms is going nowhere and has several plans for more upgrades and more events in the coming years.
She said: "We have got plenty of plans, hopefully, we will still be here, we are not planning on going anywhere and we have got plenty of plans for the next few years to make plenty of improvements.
"We have got plans for a new room, better bike storage, and generally just involving the community more and expanding our fundraising."
