A WORKINGTON man who was due to start work as a delivery driver will not be able to take up the post after he admitted driving while over the limit for cannabis.
Robert Fielding, 35, of Moss Bay Road, committed the offence in Bury on April 26 last year, when police found that he was driving a VW Crafter while approximately six times the limit for the drug’s active ingredient.
He pleaded guilty.
His defence lawyer Duncan Campbell told magistrates at Carlisle’s Rickergate court that Fielding apologised for the offence. It was the result of him using the class B drug on a previous day, said Mr Campbell.
“He had a new job ready to start tomorrow,” said the lawyer, pointing out that the inevitable ban would make that impossible.
Magistrates imposed a one-year ban, a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
