WHITEHAVEN Coastguard has conducted a Lost and Missing Person training exercise.
The team conducts multiple training sessions including Rope Rescue and Water Rescue to prepare for any situation.
A spokesperson said: "Last night's training focused on search planning and execution of inland closed area searches. With the casualty located, assessed, treated, and extracted.
"LAMPS for HM Coastguard includes our primary areas of sea, coastal beaches, cliff tops, and the land in the immediate vicinity, but also extends to inland searches to assist Police and partners when specifically tasked to undertake such a search.
"Search incidents are always treated as an emergency, as time can never be recovered, and delay only increases the chance of the lost or missing person, coming to further harm or moving further away and expanding the area to be searched.
"Every Coastguard Rescue Team throughout the UK has search capability.
"Coastguard rescue officers are trained in search techniques, equipped for the role, and have the local knowledge and competence to a national standard to undertake LAMPS safely and effectively."
