CUMBRIA Police have highlighted a problem of outdoor machinery being stolen.
The Rural Crime Team explained that they are still seeing this issue occurring.
A spokesperson said: "We continue to see reports of machinery, mainly trailers or smaller power tools, being stolen on rural and agricultural premises.
"We've attended marts across the county over the last few weeks in the lead-up to, and during their machinery sales. This is to check items being sold aren't stolen- this prevents innocent purchasers from losing out and reduces the outlets for thieves to sell on any stolen property.
"Most of the scoping of these thefts occurs during the day, so we urge people to continue to report suspicious activity through our 101 system.
"Our officers are encouraged to stop trailers moving during the hours of darkness, and we thank you for your patience whilst we carry out these checks."
