PLANS have been approved for a building to house a hair salon and local village shop in Newton Reigny, near Penrith.
The application, submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council's planning authority on June 21, was approved on February 16, 2024.
The approved village shop is located next to the Sun Inn, with it being built on the current car park site.
The initial application proposes that one full-time employee would be brought on board as well as three part-time positions.
According to the approved planning conditions, strict guidelines have been established to minimise disruption.
These include restrictions on construction times and operation hours to respect nearby residents.
Work on the site must commence within three years.
The council has stated construction must occur only between 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays, ensuring Sunday and Bank Holidays will be free from any disturbances.
The establishments can cater to customers from 8am to 7pm from Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday, and 8am to 12pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
This schedule is designed to avoid any clash between the parking requirements for this development and the nearby pub.
