A film festival is set to kick-off at the end of the month.
The Keswick Film Festival, starting on February 29, has sold out an opening night screening and is set to showcase 24 feature films over the course of the festival.
The festival will display the works of established and emerging artists alike, including Oscar contenders 'The Zone of Interest' and 'American Fiction'. 'The Ospreys', a short film competition, features new work by promising filmmakers, predominantly from Cumbria.
Included in next weekend's lineup is 'Between the Lights', helmed by Wigton-based brothers Michael and David Groom. Its anticipated popularity prompted organisers to schedule a second showing at Keswick’s Alhambra Cinema.
Five films will dazzle on Rheged's giant screen, near Penrith, with audiences eagerly anticipating 'Samsara', a 'gentle' exploration of reincarnation in which attendees will engage through more than just sight.
Festival director, Ian Payne, said: "We have an incredible range of films this year, some with established stars like Cate Blanchett and Juliette Binoche, others with faces new to the cinema.
"We can take people on a world tour from Georgia to Mexico and from Senegal to Singapore – hugely different cultures but all with intriguing stories."
Documentary lovers will be engrossed by films like 'Scala!!!', a story about London's infamous cinema club, with directors Ali Catterall and Jane Giles available for a Q&A.
'Four Daughters' is not to be missed either, giving an emotive glimpse into a Tunisian family torn by religious extremism.
Tickets can be purchased through the Alhambra website.
