From next Monday (February 26), Cumberland Council will be working on extending the Carlisle LCWIP Route 38 – from Cargo to Carlisle's northern bypass.
The plan aims to make it safer and easier for people to walk and bike between Cargo and Kingmoor, as well as to schools, shops, jobs, and other local amenities.
It is part of Carlisle’s Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
Preparations for the project, which include the removal of a hedge in the lay-by’s island section and trimming of specific hedge areas near the roundabout, will also commence on Monday, February 26.
The council expects these tasks to be completed within two days, conditions permitting.
To manage traffic during the undertaking, temporary lights will be in place.
A spokesperson from Cumberland Council said: "Cumberland Council wishes to thank the community for their continued support and patience while they improve the cycle route and apologise for any inconvenience.
