An independent local business is set to host a new monthly fair showcasing arts and crafts at the Old Town Hall in Carlisle.
The Happy Herdwick is a well-established local business located at Oak Tree Animals' Charity, where its shop has been since 2019.
It is now also helping other crafters by hosting a new monthly fair in the Assembly Room at Carlisle’s Old Town Hall.
The Happy Herdwick is run by local artist Karen Logan and her husband Scott. Their shop stocks approximately 15 local artists' work along with their own needle-felted goods.
Scott said: "We provide workshops onsite all year round. We have been doing fairs in various locations for 10+ years as well.
"Near the end of last year Northern Crafts decided to sell the business & we decided to take over the running of the Carlisle fairs. We negotiated with Discover Carlisle dates from March till December and all the fairs throughout 2024 are fully booked.
"We have a wide range of crafters including, woodwork, cards, fused glass, cakes, candles to name a few. We decided to keep the table fees as low as possible to help other small businesses."
The first fair will take place on Saturday March 9, from 11am until 4pm with free entry. The remaining fairs are the on the first Saturday of each month.
Scott concluded: "We're very excited & looking forward to starting Happy Herdwick Events."
