A COMMUNITY volunteer and former councillor has been praised for his work.
Allan Forster, of Whitehaven, has been praised for his work supporting the community through voluntary work and fundraising efforts.
He has also done a lot of work to support the military community, particularly through war veteran Mark Harding, of Wigton, who, since being severely injured in conflict, dedicates his time to raising money for military charities.
A charity spokesperson said: "With a heart as vast as the oceans, Allan Forster embodies the ethos of service and duty, advocating for those who have served our nation with valor and honor.
"His steadfast commitment to effecting positive change within Cumbria is a testament to his noble character and unwavering determination.
"In the intricate tapestry of life, where threads of resilience, determination, and compassion intertwine, Mark Harding and Allan Forster stand as beacons of hope and inspiration. Their actions inspire, their dedication uplifts, and their unwavering commitment ignites a spark of hope in the hearts of many.
"In a world fraught with challenges and daunting obstacles, let us draw strength from their narratives, find courage in their journeys, and be motivated to make a difference, no matter how daunting the path may appear."
During his time as Copeland councillor, Allan was the military champion and during the Covid pandemic he helped to organise safe events marking the anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day.
He has worked tirelessly with Mark Harding by supporting and promoting his charitable work.
Allan also does work in the more immediate community. He has helped to revitalise a community centre on the Red Lonning estate at Hensingham which had fallen out of use.
Over the past couple of years he has organised a string of events aimed at creating a better sense of community for the residents of the estate.
Whilst also offering charitable gestures to those less fortunate in Hensingham and the wider West Cumbrian community, particularly by supporting children and young people.
