Police in West Cumbria arrested a man in hiding after a report of criminal damage.
Cumbria police said officers from their Copeland neighbourhood policing team attended New Street in Whitehaven after reports of criminal damage.
"Thanks to the diligence of the community, officers were directed to a local pub where the suspect was hiding.
"Officers covered the front and back entrances to prevent his escape.
"Almost textbook, the suspect ran our through the rear entrance of the pub in an attempt to escape, straight into the arms of PC 3157 and PC 2241 who promptly arrested him for the relevant offence," a spokesperson from the team said.
