An investigation into a fatal fire that happened recently in North Cumbria has concluded.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service launched an investigation into the fire that happened at a property in Brisco on Saturday, February 24, and resulted in the death of one man.
The service issued a statement on the investigation, stating its conclusion that 'leads it to believe that the fire was caused by an electrical issue'.
A spokesperson from Cumbria police confirmed the death in a statement on the day of the incident: "Police were called at 10.34am today (February 24) as part of an emergency service response to a fire at a property in Brisco.
"A man was pronounced deceased following the fire.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time."
Following the incident which saw a large number of emergency service vehicles, including fire engines, police cars, ambulances, an air ambulance (helicopter), and a CSI van, Tony Paterson, from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, issued the following message: "The fatal fire we have in Cumbria mostly involve people who live alone.
"Incidents like this reinforce the importance of checking in and keeping in touch with people who are elderly and vulnerable, especially those who live by themselves in rural areas."
Fire crews said they were in attendance for two hours, and a road closure of Brisco Road at both ends was put in place but had cleared by the mid afternoon.
Tributes to the person who died were made by readers, many of whom spoke to his character, calling him a 'lovely fella', and others who shared their condolences and prayers.
