Firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire in Carlisle this morning (February 28).
Firefighters from Carlisle East and West fire stations were deployed to reports of a kitchen fire on Almery Drive in the Currock area of the city.
When they got there, they saw what they described as a ‘well developed fire’ int eh kitchen of the property which started in a tumble dryer.
The blaze was extinguished using two sets of breathing apparatus, a hose reel, and small tools, and a cat was also rescued from the property – ‘none worse for wear’ according to the firefighting crews.
The damage to the property was limited to the kitchen thanks to the homeowner’s wise decision to close the kitchen door to stop the fire from spreading, and working smoke alarms in the property were present, providing ample warning.
