TWO local lads have been hard at work kitting out Carlisle's newest sandwich shop set to feed the city in the coming weeks.
Bridgeside Bites, located at Unit 10 on Rome Street, is scheduled to open its doors in mid-March.
Carlisle's Joshua Monk and Jamie Combe, who also run JDM Automotives and JC Car and Commercials around the corner, are seizing the opportunity to expand their entrepreneurial endeavours.
"Our landlord had another unit coming up and we thought why not take on a bit more stress," Joshua said.
The pair aim to offer a unique lunch experience in the city.
"While we'll have the usual baguette shop stuff, our focus is going to be on quality.
"Unlike typical places with processed meats at lunchtimes, everything here will be fresh and handmade, even the cakes which will be made on-site," he said.
Operating initially from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 2.30pm, the duo plan to extend their hours to include weekends once their staff is settled in.
Bridgeside Bites will cater to various lunch preferences, offering baguettes, cakes, hot and cold specials, alongside hot beverages.
"It's got great potential, we're going to have outside seating come summer and stuff like that, so there's a lot of promise - especially with the train station development up and coming," Joshua said.
Looking ahead, the team envisions expanding its offerings with plans to introduce a delivery service in the future.
"We're excited to welcome our new customers and serve fresh homemade food starting mid-March," Jamie said.
