An NHS worker from Carlisle appeared on national television to celebrate a very special birthday.
Mum of three, Carla Brockbank, appeared on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ to celebrate just her 9th ‘official’ due to being born on February 29, which only occurs once every four years.
Carla had more reason that normal to celebrate this year as her ninth leap year birthday coincided with both her youngest son’s 9th actual birthday and her eldest son’s 18th birthday.
The family held a big joint birthday party at Amante’s in Carlisle to celebrate this unique occasion.
Carla initially replied to a social media post from ‘This Morning’ asking for people to get in touch who have a birthday on February 29.
“Initially, I thought it might have been a scam,” said Carla.
“I got a phone call at like three o'clock when I was on the school run but then they rang me again an hour later and then they just kept ringing all evening until I answered, and they said they booked a hotel and travel for me and my family.
“We stayed in the hotel, a car picked us up in the morning to take us to the studio, and when we got to the studio, I felt really good because the driver said its Carla, and then they just let us drive through.
“I got hair and makeup done and then I got my own dressing room which was in Judi Love's dressing room.
“I felt a bit like a celebrity and that doesn’t happen especially for somebody from Carlisle, who only work for the NHS, - I'm not that type of person.”
Throughout the day Carla and her family met some TV personalities including ‘This Morning’ presenters Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes, fashion icon Gok Wan, and former reality TV star, Vicky Pattinson.
