A family friendly festival is returning to the north of Cumbria.
The May spring bank holiday in 2024 sees the fourth Forgotten Lands music and arts festival, held on the border between England and Scotland.
This family friendly field festival was brought to the heart of Bewcastle to celebrate and experience the history and beauty of the area.
The festival aims to champion local artists as well as bringing in performers from as far afield as Switzerland and the USA.
This year’s headliners include Mark Chadwick of The Levellers, Hadrian’s Union, and Maddy Prior and Forgotten Lands, a four-piece band formed by Maddy Prior and her daughter Rose-Ellen Kemp.
As well as music, there will be clog dancing, morris dancing, workshops, historical talks, and storytelling amongst many other things.
The festival crew has become a family over the years and are looking forward to meeting with the purpose of creating and sharing a special experience and building a village from scratch for music and the arts to have a space in Bewcastle.

The festival is held next door to Stones Barn, a retreat hosting weekend courses in singing and the arts run by Maddy and Rose-Ellen since 2001.
The festival is family-friendly, with children’s activities, and you can even bring along your (well-behaved) dog!
The festival aims to be truly self-sustaining and self-funded, and is being held on Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 26.
Tickets are on sale now.
