A PATIENT was taken to hospital after emergency services were called to a Workington hotel, attending an incident in the swimming pool.

Police and ambulance vehicles were seen outside of the Washington Central Hotel in the town yesterday afternoon, March 7.

Air ambulance were also mobilised to assist with the incident at the town centre hotel, before the patient was taken to hospital by road ambulance.

A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: "Yesterday our critical care team was activated at 2.29pm to an incident at pool in Workington. We had a doctor and paramedic on board our aircraft and they arrived on scene at 2.43pm.

"Our team worked alongside the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to assess and treat a patient, and the patient was then taken to hospital by the NWAS road crew, accompanied by our team."

Cumbria Police said they attended the hotel but that the matter was 'not a police incident'.
