WITH Easter fast approaching there will be a whole host of things happening in Cumberland for you to enjoy.

Schools will be closed and most of us will get a little bit of time off work, making it the perfect time for a day out with your family and friends.

At Easter time there are a whole host of events and attractions for you to go and enjoy.

Here in Cumberland, there are so many things to choose from.

At Newsquest, we wanted to highlight some of the most interesting events that will be going on.

Muncaster Castle

At Muncaster, there is a range of activities to enjoy this year including a Protect the Egg workshop, The Big Egg Drop, an egg hunt that will take place each day and successful searchers will be awarded with a treat.

There will also be a spring trail through the gardens, tickets can be bought online.

Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway

At the La'al Ratty there will be a 'High Speed Easter Egg Hunt' competition for children to complete on the train journey.

On top of this, the Ravenglass railway museum will be hosting a series of free children’s activities.

They plan to host their first Teddy Mountain Bear Build Workshops over the holidays.

Carlisle Castle

In Carlisle, there will be an 'Adventure Quest' held at the castle.

A spokesperson said: "Join us for a cracking adventure quest at Carlisle Castle this Easter holiday. Hunt for clues in the grounds, track down the Easter eggs, and get rewarded with a tasty chocolate treat."

Wordsworth House

In North West Cumbria you can enjoy the chance of an Easter trail at Wordsworth House.

This takes you along ten activities through the house and gardens and each child is given a chocolate egg.

The Beacon

At this Whitehaven-based museum, you can paint and decorate your own ceramic Easter egg basket and create personalised Easter cards.
