Carlisle MP, John Stevenson, has welcomed a £974,000 investment into Carlisle Truck Stop.
The total figure includes £315,000 of Government funding from the Department for Transport’s HGV Parking and Driver Welfare Match funding grant scheme and £695,000 from related industry investment.
The funding is set to enhance amenities, security and parking for truck drivers.
Commenting on the decision, Mr Stevenson MP said: "I am delighted to see this investment into Carlisle.
"The grant demonstrates the importance the Government attaches to road haulage and logistics and improving the working lives of a significant number of HGV drivers.
"I look forward to seeing the improvements this will bring."
Carlisle Truck Stop is found at Parkhouse Road, near Junction 44 of the M6.
