A Carlisle man repeatedly yelled that he had been “stitched up” as a court heard a graphic account of how he twice assaulted his partner and threatened her with a knife.

7. Maryport couple take over The Sailors Return pub on Kings Street
A Maryport couple have taken over the pub in which they first met, as they aim to bring more people down to the town's much-loved harbour.
Cameron Harrison, 52, has taken over the Sailors Return alongside partner Debbie Melville, 51, from Maryport.
8. Cleaner at Derwentwater Hotel, Keswick, took keys and stole booze
A hotel cleaner helped herself to nearly £800-worth of booze after she had agreed to fill in for the porter’s shift.
Carly Weighman, 34, had been employed at the Derwentwater Hotel in Keswick and was ‘drunk on shift’ in the early hours of November 19 last year.
9. Apollo the dog honoured on third birthday following 2022 disappearance
A couple whose beloved pet spaniel went missing on the fells back in 2022 have 'faced their biggest fear' by returning to the Lakes to celebrate the beloved dog's third birthday.
10. Body of man in 50s found in river near Lake District town
The body of a man in his 50s has been found in a Lake District river, following an emergency service presence over the weekend.
Police were called to Penrith Road, Keswick at 10.09am on March 16 following the report of a body being found in the river.
