Maryport has received some high praise from a national newspaper late last week.
Jon King, a writer at The Daily Express, called Maryport "the pretty seaside town you've probably never heard of on the edge of the Lake District", and commended its offerings of Solway estuary views and a bay fit for wind and kite surfing.
Mr King said the town's long and proud history is well represented at the Senhouse Roman Museum and the Maritime Museum, and its local aquarium is a notable attraction.
He also notes its restaurants and cafes, namely Her Citi, The Lifeboat Inn, the restaurant at Maryport Golf Club, and The Harbourisde Cafe.
Maryport is an often under-appreciated town and never gets featured in the limelight, so national commendation such as this is a treat.
