AN award-winning filmmaker and photographer will be screening his new film at The Gather.
Terry Abraham, of the Eden Valley, who released his film Cumbrian Red in August 2023 will be screening the film and hosting a Q and A at the Ennerdale community venue.
He is incredibly passionate about the nature and wildlife that can be found in Cumbria, particularly red squirrels.
Mr Abraham said: "A lot of people are familiar with my name and work thanks to a trilogy of films I produced that were smash hits on the BBC called Life of a Mountain.
"These featured a year on Scafell Pike, Blencathra, and then for the final in the trilogy, a year on Helvellyn.
"When I finished the Helvellyn film, despite big offers from big TV production companies, I wanted to do another passion project.
"When I make the films it's me that is the crew, I'm a one-man show, the only thing that I don't do is the music."
Terry explained that he thought there was some important story to be done with the conservation of red squirrels.
He was monitoring a few sites for the Penrith and District Red Squirrel Group which cover the largest area across Cumbria in terms of red squirrel conservation, and in doing so managed to 'befriend' a group of squirrels.
He continued: "I affectionately call them red scamps, and there's one particular site I call Rust and Co, I formed a very strong bond of trust with them, despite them being red squirrels.
"Over nine months I thought I had a bigger opportunity to capture the way that they behaved in the wild through the seasons.
"I set about making the documentary with no money in my pocket, but with thanks to the community and my fanbase, I was able to raise a lot of money through crowdfunding."
Terry will be visiting The Gather on Saturday, April 20. He says that he chose this venue as it is a part of the community and there are also a lot of red squirrels in and around Ennerdale.
