PEOPLE are warned to stay safe in coastal areas during the partial solar eclipse.
Whitehaven Coastguard has warned members of the public to be careful near cliff edges during the eclipse today, April 8.
The eclipse is expected to occur this evening at around 8.55pm for five minutes.
A spokesperson said: "Will there be a cloud-free sky to see the solar eclipse? We hope so.
"If you decide to venture out to the coast to catch a glimpse, then please be mindful of exposed cliff edges and marina walls whilst wearing protective glasses to look directly at the sun."
