KESWICK Choral Society is trying a new style for its Spring concert.
The concert is set to take place on Saturday, April 27.
The new style will take the form of a “Prom”, comprising one major work and some popular favourites as well as lesser-known works, together with audience participation.
A spokesperson said: "The audience will be invited to join the choir for “Jerusalem”, to Parry’s well-known setting, and 'Land of Hope and Glory' which forms part of Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March no 1.
"English composers Britten and Stanford will also be represented, as will the ever-popular John Rutter, and Ken Burton’s spirituals.
"Handel, although German, is often thought of as an English composer since he lived and worked here most of his life, and excepts from his oratorio 'Samson' will be performed by the choir and soprano Jane Burnell. The choir will also join Jane in Mozart’s well-loved 'Laudate Dominum'."
The concert will take place at St John’s Church, Keswick. Tickets are available in advance at a reduced price of £12 from choir members, Bookends, and Eventbrite, or on the door at £15.
