Steven and Tina Epps, Cumbria holiday homeowners, have triumphed in national awards spotlighting exemplary holiday let owners.
The couple, who own Byre Cottage, Garrigill, were honoured in Sykes Holiday Cottages’ Sykes Stars programme following stellar feedback from guests.
The Epps, keen fell walkers, retired to Cumbria in 2015 after years of visiting the region.
With a one-bedroom holiday home next to their property, they decided to take up the challenge.
Set on a hillside, the dog-friendly cottage boasts a veranda where holidaymakers can savour the stunning views of the local landscape and its varied wildlife.
Its attractive interiors and warm ambience have made it a sought-after escape for couples.
Mr Epps said: "We really are so proud to have been named a Sykes Star.
"The recognition means so much to us as we always put our all into making sure our guests have a wonderful stay.
"Holiday letting is so rewarding and one of our favourite aspects is seeing holidaymakers looking relaxed and rejuvenated after a few days.
"We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us and Byre Cottage."
A firm favourite amongst walkers, the cottage has been called a 'home away from home'.
The Sykes Stars programme is aimed at acknowledging holiday homeowners from all over the UK who have consistently received pristine feedback from guests over the past year.
The Epps were amongst the top 32 sets of holiday let owners to have been given a Sykes Star for going above and beyond in delivering excellent service to their guests.
Bev Dumbleton, chief operating officer at Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: "We love to showcase the incredible mix of holiday lets available in the UK and those that feature as our Sykes Stars are some of the very best.
"We know just how committed owners like Steven and Tina are to providing fantastic breaks for their guests and it’s great to be able to recognise this.
"Our winners make an invaluable contribution to the UK holiday let market and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for them in the future, especially as Cumbria continues to be a thriving staycation hotspot."
