A Cumbrian deli is determined to defy opinions as it sells its cheese ice cream for the second year running.
The Keswick Cheese Deli is a small, independent business located just off the main street, on Packhorse Court.
Owner Hayley Peacock decided to experiment with flavours last year and came up with her very own cheese ice cream, which proved extremely popular in the summer months.
With warmer weather now firmly in our sights, she has re-launched the cheesy concept in her deli, starting with a creamy white stilton, which is blended with sweet mango and ginger.
Speaking to the News and Star, Hayley said: "It is a little bit different. I launched it last summer to see how well it would go. It caused a lot of stir, people were questioning whether it really was cheese and ice cream. Once they tried it, they were back for more. I've had people contacting me asking if it we are still making it. It's been received with a lot greater enthusiasm than I ever thought it would be."
Keswick Cheese deli stocks a lot of Cumbrian cheeses and local produce, as well as food produce from across the UK and further afield.
Hayley added: "We're a small shop with a big heart. The ice cream is made here in the deli and it's made in very small batches. I don't have a lot of room, so we're just making one flavour at a time to see how it goes. I had a play about with different cheeses that would work well with ice cream, until we were all happy. The first flavour was manchego and quince."
With a wide range of Cumbrian ice creams available, Hayley wanted to stand out from the crowd by using her cheese expertise to offer something different.
She said: "I have large quantities of cheese at my fingertips so it seemed like a really good idea. When people see the sign, they are sceptical, but when they try it, their faces change because it's gorgeous. They're definitely converted. Don't knock it until you try it."
