A CLASSIC and timeless-themed wedding with live music hit all the right notes for a Cumbrian couple who plan to jet to Dubai and Crete for a honeymoon in September.
Production engineer Kyle Brown, 29, and bridal seamstress Rebecca Ferguson (now Brown), 30, first met on Rebecca's birthday on January 11, 2014, just over ten years ago.
However, Kyle had spotted her before then and knew she was the one.
Rebecca said: "It turns out that Kyle had spotted me on New Year's Eve, just a few weeks before, but hadn’t spoken to me.
"Then, on my birthday, he came up to speak to me, and we danced and talked.
"We went to London for our first break away together around Christmas time to make sure we got on well enough, but then it became a tradition to go to London for Christmas every year.
"The year he proposed, he didn’t give anything away; he was so calm! It was on Friday, December 10 2021.
"We always go to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park on the Friday, but have a few drinks beforehand.
"He was desperate to go to our favourite rooftop bar in the Sea Containers hotel. I thought nothing of it, and he went to the bar. I went outside onto the terrace and found a table for us.
"Little did I know he was telling the girl at the bar he was going to propose, and could she record it.
"She didn’t get a chance, of course, because he came back to the table so fast and got it over and done with; she was busy getting us a bottle of champagne! It was magical. It was nighttime, and you could see right across London as it lit up.
"We drank champagne, and he told me stories about getting the ring, how he chose it, asking my parents’ permission, etc. Then we headed to Hyde Park without telling anyone that we were engaged to enjoy that time to ourselves without our phones."
After announcing the engagement, Kyle spent his stag weekend in Ibiza, and Rebecca spent four nights in Windermere for her hen do.
The pair tied the knot at Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa in Keswick on Saturday, March 30 2024.
Speaking about the day, Rachel said: "The best moment of the day was just before we were about to walk down the aisle when the sun came beaming out; it was magic!
"Everyone was outside the spa and stopped on the road watching us... it was surreal.
"I met Kyle at the altar, I was in a beautiful dress with a removable flowy skirt.
"Our friend Jordan Harkness was our best man, and Kyle's brothers Elliot Brown and Jamie Brown were groomsmen.
"My maids of honour were my sisters Rachel Jones and Victoria Ferguson; my bridesmaids were my friends Sarah Jackson, Tessa Robinson, and Sally-Jayne Pratt (Friends).
"I also had my niece Megan Jones as my flower girl."
There were 81 guests at the wedding, which took place at 12.30pm, with the reception at 1pm.
"Our wedding breakfast was at 3.30 pm at the venue, and our favours were Dogs Trust pin badges, as we donated to Dogs Trust," Rebecca added.
"Kyle’s mum made our wedding cake, and our first dance was to Guiding Light by Mumford & Sons.
"After the wedding, we had a mini-moon in Windermere."
