IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at what the residents of north Cumbria got up to in the year 1982.
Some of the main headlines from national news stories then were about the Falklands War, happier news came in June with the news of the birth of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ first son, William.
In Cumbria, we had the Carlisle Parish review, which marked St Herbert’s golden jubilee celebrations. The Women’s Fellowship billed themselves as Shapes & Sizes and performed.
We also had plenty of sporting memories as some Harraby Secondary School pupils were chosen for the county volleyball under-15 team.
And, we cannot forget some farming memories from the year as ten-year-old Harry Ward of Brayton posed with one of the horses his family was selling in 82.
