CITY centre coffeehouse Caffé Nero will remain open in the same location, despite the looming departure of House of Fraser.
The chain previously stated that the cafe, which is currently located on the ground-floor within the English Street building, would be closing.
In March, Caffé Nero said: “Unfortunately, due to the closure of the House of Fraser store in Carlisle, we are currently scheduled to close our connected store.
"We very much enjoy operating in the town and are actively seeking a premises to be able to remain and continue to serve the community.”
However, the coffeehouse have now confirmed that they are indeed remaining in their current location.
Caffé Nero will use the opportunity to refurbish and update the store as House of Fraser close, the chain said.
A spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to be remaining in our store in Carlisle.
"We have always enjoyed being part of the local community and are very pleased to be able to continue serving our customers and the wider public in the town.
"There will be a short period of closure towards the end of May while we refurbish the store, but it will be a brief temporary interruption.
"We are currently open and will continue trading up to the refurbishment and then following it.”
Whilst the exact layout specifics of the store's refurbishments have not been confirmed, they will be a stand alone store once House of Fraser departs.
