CUMBRIA Police will be hosting an event aimed at preventing knife crime.

This is part of Operation Spectre and will be held at Brampton Community Centre.

It is hoped that children and their parents will attend, to be educated on the dangers of carrying knives.

A spokesperson said: "As part of Operation Sceptre next week, PCSO 5380 and PC 2250 will be running a drop-in event at Brampton Community Centre on Tuesday, May 14 between 4pm and 7pm.

"The event is open to everyone, but we are hoping children and their parents will attend. It's an opportunity for us to discuss the dangers and consequences of knives and carrying them.

"The session will be interactive and give you the chance to ask any questions you might have about knife crime."
