OVER the weekend the northern lights were visible across Cumbria and other parts of the country.
The rare phenomena were mostly visible to people on the night of Friday, May 10.
The reason that the lights were so visible was because of one of the strongest geomagnetic storms in years.
The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a rare solar storm warning because of this.
Many who saw the northern lights, or Aurora Borealis as it is correctly known, took to social media to share their photos.
Some people in the county have shared their photos with us here at Newsquest.
This round-up shows some of the most fascinating pictures that have been provided to us over the last few days.
We hope that you find them as equally fascinating as we have.
