Cumbrian athlete Tara Simpson-Sullivan has landed yet more success in the USA.
The Lowther star won the American Athletic Conference hammer title with a throw of 65.76m.
It was Simpson-Sullivan’s eighth Conference title as she continued her peerless record representing Rice University.
She helped her university finish second in the overall women’s standings at the event in San Antonio.
And it cemented Simpson-Sullivan’s record as an all-time great at her university.
Her second throw proved her best and, speaking after the event, she said: “I was just trying to enjoy it, because it’s my last outdoor Conference championship.
“I had fun, I really did.

“It means a lot. I’ve had a lot of Conference championships and the last one is something special.”
Simpson-Sullivan, 23, has also received a further prestigious accolade at Rice University.
She received the Joyce Pounds Hardy Award, which is presented annually to Rice’s top female student-athlete.
The Cumbrian, who won the British hammer title in 2021, is in her final year of studies at the Texan university.
