A NEW recruit at the Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team has put his skills to the test this week with a training exercise in the town this week.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team carried out there weekly training session at the Whitehaven Marina with new recruit Todd joining the team in a search and rescue exercise.
In a post on social media, Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: "This week's training welcomed Todd, our newest recruit, to join us in a search exercise.
"Search is fundamental to our operations and is a key component of many of our callouts. After the OIC outlined the scenario to our search team leaders, they developed a thorough search plan to cover the areas of interest.
"Once the casualty was located, Todd took the chance to demonstrate the skills he had learned in his Casualty Care Training last week.
"It was a great opportunity for many team members, especially those new to various roles, to refine their skills through practical scenarios in anticipation of real callouts."
