A sailboat experiencing mechanical issues was successfully assisted into Whitehaven Harbour this morning (Sunday).

The St Bees RNLI and coastguard teams were called out at 6.30am to help secure the vessel.

Thanks to the joint effort, the boat, under the tow of the RNLI, was guided safely and secured in Whitehaven Harbour.

A spokesperson from Whitehaven Coastguard said: "After speaking with the persons on board, it was confirmed that they had all the necessary equipment and were in good health.

"The teams were then stood down, ready for the next shout."
