IN this edition of nostalgia, we are looking back at photographs of Keswick's shops and high street.

The changing face of Keswick is evident in these snaps, as we look at what Keswick used to look like throughout the decades. However, there are many buildings that are still the same. Many photos show buildings and statues that still look similar today.

Some of these photos were taken in 2004, so twenty years on how has Keswick changed?

The Outdoor Clearance store which is pictured in 2004, sold hiking gear, outdoor clothing and more. The store which was at the bottom of Main Street in Keswick and was later replaced by Fat Face which still stands today.

The Fact Face store moved to 49-51 Main Street, Keswick in August 2023 after previously being located further down on Main Street in a smaller store as shown in the first picture.

Rathbones first started in retail in Keswick in 1964. The family ran business still stands today in Keswick.

Elliotts Factory Outlet in Keswick was located alongside Trespass, this store location later became fully owned by Trespass.

Pitlochry in Lakeland is now a permanently closed store. The Pitlochry in Lakeland shop in Keswick’s Museum Square, was a subsidiary of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, closed in 2020. The store sold clothing, housing needs and more.
