A runner who penned one of the first books devoted to a sport he’s passionate about will talk at an event later this year.
Richard Askwith published a memoir in 2004 about fell running, and two decades later, ‘Feet in the Clouds’ is recognised by people as a modern classic, and influenced an increased popularity in the sport.
He is said to be ‘arguable running’s finest writer’, with the book his ‘finest’, and ‘a hymn to the ecstasy and agony of fell running’, according to running magazine Runner’s World.
At the event, at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick on June 8, Mr Askwith will reflect on 20 years of change in the sport, fells, publishing, and his sporting life.
