Veteran Cumbrian goalkeeper Scott Carson has signed a new deal with Manchester City.
The 38-year-old has agreed to remain with the Premier League champions for another season.
The experienced Carson has been a back-up goalkeeper at City since 2019.
Whilst the man from Cleator Moor has scarcely featured in the first team he remains a valued squad member by Pep Guardiola.
And his new deal, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2025, has now been confirmed.
“I’m looking forward to another season as part of this incredible squad at City,” said Carson on the City website.
“Every day I work hard and learn something new from Pep, [goalkeeping coach] Xabi Mancisidor and the world class group of players.
“Hopefully I can continue to help our goalkeepers perform at their best as we challenge for even more trophies.”
City's director of football Txiki Begiristain said: “Scott has been important to our successes over recent seasons, supporting his team-mates and training hard as part of our excellent goalkeeping unit.
“We’re very pleased he has agreed to extend his contract. Hopefully he can help the squad and be ready when called upon on the pitch in the 2024/25 season.”
Carson started at Leeds United before spells at Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion, Bursaspor, Wigan Athletic and Derby County, also playing on loan for Aston Villa, Charlton Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday.
The Whitehaven-born player has four full England caps. At City he has been a regular understudy to Ederson and Stefan Ortega.
He has made two first-team appearances in his five years at the Etihad Stadium.
