Coastguards were tasked with searching for two adults and two children trying to cross a river with a quad bike.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said they were called by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Belfast last night (May 25) about the four people trying to cross the River Ehen with a quad bike and bags, near Sellafield railway station.
There were concerns that they may have been lost or cut off, a spokesperson from Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said.
"Our team responded to access the beach at Braystones and liaised with our Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) colleagues who had managed to make contact with the individuals and were all now leaving the beach safe and well," they added.
