Carlisle Foodbank have teamed up with a local charity to push a big donation drive ahead of the summer holidays.
Without the offer of free school meals, the six week summer holidays are a difficult time for families struggling to cope with the cost of living crisis.
As a result, Carlisle Foodbank has teamed up with Give a Day to the City to host a week-long food drive from July 1st until July 7.
On Facebook, Carlisle Foodbank wrote: "We're excited to announce that Carlisle Foodbank is hosting a week-long food drive in connection with Give a Day, and we need your help!
"We are calling on all local businesses, community groups and organisations to participate in this crucial initiative.
"Every donation counts, and your support makes a huge difference!"
Local businesses can sign up to organise a food collection at the workplace, promote the food drive within work networks, spread the word on social media and encourage others to join in.
Andy Fearon, from Give a Day, said:
“Give a Day is all about connecting big hearted people to good causes in and around Carlisle that make a real difference to people. The foodbanks have done an incredible job over the years in meeting people at their point of need. So it’s an honour to be part of their project as Give a Day. It’s really easy for people to sign up and get involved.
"Everybody has something to offer in this, the most generous city on the planet.”
